Falls Landslide – FHWA
Yellowstone National
Park, Montana
Project included geotechnical
investigation and instrument installation upon an active landslide in
Yellowstone National Park. Drilling methods included crane assisted
platform drilling and truck-mount drilling using rotary auger and HQ wireline. Provided drill logging services and supervision of
instrument installation (sondex settlement gages and slope
indicators). Performed field-developed cross sections and geologic
mapping. Photographed rock core samples. Created custom-designed
boring logs using “gINT” from Geotechnical Computer Applications.
Oliver
Project Slope Evaluation
Hamilton , Montana
Project included large residential
structure to be built on the crest of a 40-degree, 150-foot vertical
slope. The toe of the slope was located on an inside bend of Blodgett
creek. Performed geotechnical investigation, field-developed cross
sections, laboratory testing, and computerized slope stability
analysis. Submittals included placement of the home to avoid
instability, erosion control measure recommendations, and allowable
bearing capacity for foundation elements.
