Orion Engineering has significant
experience with difficult slope issues including
National Park road systems, and residential and
commercial hillside development. Site reconnaissance is
followed by geologic characterization and mapping,
field-developed-cross sections, subsurface
investigation, laboratory testing, and finally, slope
stability analysis.
Orion Engineering uses computerized
slope stability programs to assess the stability of the
project. The primary modeling software we utilize is "XSTABL"
developed at the University of Idaho, and used by the
FHWA.
We give special attention to potential
groundwater and phreatic surfaces in our analysis. We
have experience in instrumentation including strain
gages, pressure transducers, extensometers, and
